The 29-year-old says one of the aspects of trail running he enjoys the most is “going down.” Here are Jornet’s three tips, all of which he expands in detail in the featured five-minute tutorial video.
1. Visualize
Look ahead and anticipate your trajectory and where you’re going to put your feet.
2. Know the terrain
Learn the differences of how to approach the terrain whether it’s grass, rock, wet, dry or snowy.
3. Maintain balance and be aware of your centre of gravity
Use the entire body to maintain a low centre of gravity and adjust, like keeping the weight of your body in front, if on snowy terrain, when descending quickly, accordingly.
