Kilian Jornet’s late-night encounter with the police

Jornet tweeted out a photo of himself and a police officer holding a breathalyzer

Kilian Jornet

If you follow Kilian Jornet on Strava, you may know that he goes on some rather adventurous runs. Sometimes, his training extends into the late hours of the evening and into the night.

On Aug. 3, Jornet, who is coming off a victory at the Hardrock 100 and earlier this year twice summited Mount Everest over the course of a week, was stopped by local police in Norway. The Spaniard posted a photo of himself and a police officer, who was holding a breathalyzer, a device used to estimate blood alcohol levels. On Instagram, Jornet added that he blew a 0.

“When you go or come back [from] training at midnight and police don’t believe [you],” Jornet tweeted out on Thursday. The world-famous trail and mountain runner calls Ã…ndalsnes in Norway his home base.

The midnight sun appears to make the photo look as though it was taken during the daytime. Jornet will notably race UTMB at the end of the month in a highly-anticipated matchup with American Jim Walmsley.
