Coulee Cactus Crawl crashes outdoor wedding near Lethbridge

A parade of sweaty runners interrupts nuptials at scenic spot in southern Alberta

The Coulee Cactus Crawl, a 20-mile race through the coulees of Lethbridge, Alberta, picked a beautiful Saturday for its 2018 event. Unfortunately for them, so did a happy couple trying to tie the knot as a parade of sweaty trail runners came through their wedding.

“It was pretty funny,” said Ralph Arnold, one of the race participants. “I’m not sure they appreciated it.”

A coulee is simply a ravine or valley with steep sides carved by water erosion. (From the French couler, to flow.) That translates to a very hilly race. And yes, there are cactus.
