WATCH: Golden Trail World Series athletes tell all

Find out what happened at the 2019 Golden Trail World Series, and get excited for next year

The 2019 Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) included Zegama-Aizkorri in Spain, Marathon du Mont-Blanc in France, Dolomyths Run Skyrace in Italy, Sierre-Zinal in Switzerland, Pikes Peak Marathon in USA and Ring of Steall Skyrace in Scotland, and finished on October 26 with the Annapurna Trail Marathon in Nepal. The top athletes headed to the highest mountains in the world in Pockhara, Nepal for a chance at winning the GTWS.

The video features interviews with Kilian Jornet, Davide Magnini, Stian Angermund-Vik, Judith Wyder, Silvia Rampazzo, Maude Mathys, New Zealand’s Ruth Croft and American Meg Mackenzie, who raced to podium spots in the world series. The women go into depth about how many of the leaders got lost on course.

The film also catches footage of the pros dancing over gnarly ridges at altitude through Nepalese villages during the race. The 2020 GTWS will kick off in Spain next June at the Zegama-Aizkorri race. Find out what happened at the 2019 world series, and get excited for next year:
