The trail event for our furry friends

Dash for Dogs gives back to our trail running companions by supporting BC and Alberta Guide Dogs

When trail runner Craig Slagel adopted Dynasty in 2012, his friends told him he should have her guide his runs so he wouldn’t get lost. Dynasty, a retired guide dog was the inspiration behind Slagel’s startup RunGo–a running app to guide runs in new locations.  RunGo is now used by runners worldwide as one of the top accessible running apps for visually impaired athletes. On Sunday February 24, RunGo will host the fifth annual Dash for Dogs as a fundraiser for BC and Alberta Guide Dogs. Choose from a 10K, 5K, or 2K run or walk through Stanley Park trails in Vancouver, B.C.

You don’t need a dog to join the party. The event is fun and non-competitive, with the focus on furry friends, prizes, music, and pancakes. All of the proceeds go toward BC and Alberta Guide Dogs. Each year, the event grows, Slagel explains. “Our first year in 2015 we had 100 runners and raised $2500. Last year we had almost 400 runners and 200 dogs registered and raised $20,000.”
