Heart problems to blame for Detroit runners' deaths

Heart abnormalities caused the death of two runners who collapsed during the Detroit half marathon, authorities in Michigan said Monday.

The Wayne County medical examiner’s office has listed the cause of death for both 36-year-0ld Daniel Langdon and 26-year-old Jonathon Fenlon, as cardiac dysrhythmia. That means they had irregular or abnormal heartbeats.

Langdon and Fenlon were two of three runners who died during the race on Oct. 18. Fenlon collapsed just after finishing, while Langdon went down just before the finish line.

65-year-old Rick Brown also died near the finish line of the half marathon. An earlier autopsy revealed that suffered from heart disease.
