Photos from Friday evening (local time) in Monza, Italy, the site of the Nike Breaking2 marathon, an attempt to break the two-hour barrier.
Friday night (May 5), or 5:45 a.m. local time on Saturday at a Formula One track outside of Milan. See the scene on the eve of the attempt just hours ahead of the time trial, in which Eliud Kipchoge, Zersenay Tadese and Lelisa Desisa, with the help of world-class pacers and innovative technology, will attempt to run 1:59:59 for 42.2K on a closed, 2.4K looped-course.
