Alysia Montaño races U.S. Championships five months pregnant

Fans may recall that Alysia Montaño did the same thing back in 2014 when she was 34 weeks pregnant at the U.S. Outdoor Championships

For the second time in three years, Alysia Montaño competed at a USATF Outdoor Championship while pregnant.

In 2014, the American competed at the national championships while pregnant with her first child, Linnea, who was in attendance at this year’s race in Sacramento, Calif. Fast forward to 2017, Montaño raced the women’s 800m, finishing at the back of the pack in 2:21.40.

The 2015 Pan Am Games silver medallist and two-time world championships medallist is currently five months pregnant. “I have some pretty awesome maternity photos from both pregnancies,” the 31-year-old said on Instagram. The Olympian notably runs with a flower in her hair at local, national and international athletics competitions.

In 2014, Montano raced the USATF Outdoor Championships, also in Sacramento, while 34 weeks pregnant. The meet acts as a qualifier for the 2017 IAAF World Championships this summer in London granted athletes have met their event’s standard.
