Gwen Jorgensen finishes fourth in Pittsburgh

Former triathlete refers to half-marathon debut as "learning experience"

2016 Olympic gold medalist in the triathlon, Gwen Jorgensen, debuted the half-marathon today at the USATF Half-Marathon Championships in Pittsburgh, Penn., as a stepping stone in her transition to the marathon. In a video she posted on social media she says she is “not super stoked” about her fourth-place finish, but that it was a learning experience.

Kenya-born Aliphine Tuliamuk was the winner, with a time of 1:10:03, just three hundredths of a second ahead of Sara Hall in second place. Rochelle Kanuho was third.

In the video Jorgensen says she had some difficulties with the hilly course, and expresses disappointment with her performance. She has not yet decided where she will race next.
