No finish-line medals at Oxford Half Marathon

Runners who finished the Oxford Half Marathon in the U.K. on Saturday were disappointed to learn they wouldn’t be getting a medal at the finish line, due to a delay caused by Storm Ali back in mid-September.

Participants were emailed by race organizers the day before the race to let them know their finishers medals would be sent to them at a later date. It seems some runners were very annoyed.

However some still managed to run fast times in spite of their disappointment, with one individual setting a six-minute PB.

The race saw some very fast times. Sarah Van Der Wielen of Sweden was the first female to cross the finish line, in 1:12:01, almost seven minutes of second-place finisher Rose Penfold in 1:18:57. Kelly Edwards finished third in 1:21:04. On the men’s side, Ben Cole was the winner, in 1:08:37. Seyfu Jamaal was second, in 1:09:45, and Luuk Metselaar third in 1:10:08. The first 11 men were all faster than 72 minutes.
