Well, Brandon McBride made that one look easy...
Brandon McBride led for the entire two laps of the 800m semi finals on Sunday evening local time advancing to the final round in a run that looked nearly effortless.
He ran the race out front looking relaxed and easy despite coming in to the finish in 1:45.53, the leading time in his heat. The 23-year-old will now advance to the finals which are set to run in London on 4:35 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday afternoon. He will line up with seven other men for the final competition as the only runner representing Canada.
McBride currently holds a PB in the distance of 1:43.95. He is ranked sixth in the field but out of his competitors, he has run the third fastest time this season (1:44.91).
With him in his heat today was Kyle Langford of Great Britain who finished behind him in 1:45.81. Marcin Lewandowski finished third in the heat but will not be advancing to the finals. In the semi-finals, the top two runners in each heat go through along with the next two fastest overall times.
