Kicking things off at Olympic Stadium is a field event with one of Canada’s best medal hopes. A bronze medalist four years ago in London and winner of last year’s World Championships, Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont. begins his quest for gold in the qualification for men’s high jump. Catch the action starting at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Also on the field beginning at 7:55 is the women’s triple jump final, however no Canadian is competing.

The first race on the track will be the women’s 400m semi-final. Canada’s Carline Muir is in heat two and looking for a place in tomorrow’s final. Semi-final number one goes at 7:35 p.m. EDT.

The men’s 100m will be the evening’s final and most highly anticipated event but first, three semi-finals run to decide who will be gunning for the medals. Andre De Grasse is in heat two which includes current world record holder and pre-race favourite Usain Bolt as well as the U.S.A.’s Trayvon Bromell, meaning it will be a fight just to make the final. Remember the top two finishers in each of the three heats moves on to the final plus the next two fastest time qualifiers. The first heat gets underway at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

Another semi-final on the track is the women’s 1500m. Nicole Sifuentes is the lone Canadian in competition in heat two and will be in tough to make the final. The first heat runs at 8:30 p.m.

The penultimate event of the evening is the men’s 400m final at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

Then last but certainly not least, the shortest and fastest–don’t blink or you’ll miss it–race of the Olympics is the men’s 100m finals. The race is scheduled for 9:25 p.m. and all eyes will be watching what is arguably the most popular event of the entire Olympics.
