Scenes from the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon and Mississauga Marathon

The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon and Mississauga Marathon were the talk of the running community in the Greater Toronto Area on Sunday morning.

Runners in the Greater Toronto Area were met with cool and rainy conditions at both the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon and Mississauga Marathon on Sunday morning. The events were two of the region’s more popular events on the annual road racing circuit.

Sportsnet anchor Evanka Osmak (see tweet at the top of the page) reminded runners on race morning of the weather just in case they were checking social media before heading out to run.

Runners in downtown Toronto had the chance to run through the city’s core on a mostly-downhill route. Sunday morning’s race was the first of the city’s two major marathons as the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon will take over the town in October.

TSN golf columnist Bob Weeks made an appearance on the start line at the 5K event, which was part of Mississauga Marathon race weekend, on Saturday morning (races were held on Saturday and Sunday).

Weeks was active on Instagram and posted the following three photos including a selfie of the start line and another with the city’s mayor Bonnie Crombie, who ended up running 32:24 for 5K.

Runners were greeted by an extra cheerful crowd at the 12K water station at the Mississauga Marathon. These youngsters, as can be seen below, like all the volunteers, help make road racing possible thanks to their generosity.

Runners at the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon, which also included a half, 10K, and 5K, were treated with some fancy finishers medal upon completion.

The finishers medal at the Mississauga marathon wasn’t too shabby either. That event too had a wide spectrum of events including the full marathon down to a 5K.

Canadian Race Guide editor Dan Way was also in action in Mississauga:
