Horse wins again at Man Vs. Horse race

Yet again, 2012 has turned out to be the year of the horse.

Yet again, 2012 has turned out to be the year of the horse.

Rheidol Star, a female that had previously placed 11th among horses in 2010, had a banner day, fighting what was described as ‘difficult conditions’ for foot speed and a cloudy day to win this year’s edition of the Man Vs. Horse Marathon (which is actually only a 35K race). Her time of 2:00:51 was the fastest finish since 2000.

The top bipedal finisher was Hu Lobb, in a respectable 2:25.57, considering that if the terrain is poor the 35K distance becomes essentially a very challenging cross country race.

Lobb, one of only two human races to win the event outright over the last 32 years, has also raced for Great Britain internationally, sporting a personal best 2:14:33 at the London Marathon in 2005. When Lobb won the race outright in 2004, he ran a time of 2:05:19 under what were described as very hot conditions.

Perhaps 2013 will be the year of the human.
