Two of the top-three Canadians at STWM take a combined 34 minutes off their PBs

Canadians Lyndsay Tessier and Melanie Myrand had breakthrough performances at the marathon distance on Sunday

Lyndsay Tessier and Melanie Myrand, the Canadian Marathon Championships silver and bronze medallist, respectively, took tens of minutes, combined, off their PBs on Sunday.

Finishing behind Leslie Sexton’s national-winning 2:35:47, Tessier finished in 2:36:55, nine minutes faster than her previous best of 2:45:39, set in 2014. Myrand, who had a PB of 3:04:57 entering Sunday, ran 2:39:10 as both dipped under the 2:40 barrier for the first time in breakthrough performances at the distance.

Tessier split 1:17:51 through halfway, which is 51 seconds off her standalone half-marathon PB of 1:17:00, according to her All Athletics profile.
