Steve Harvey gaffe the inspiration for best race sign ever

The Steve Harvey gaffe at Miss Universe 2015 is proving to be inspiration for signs at local road races with hilarious finished products.

Steve Harvey

Steve Harvey has gotten a lot of criticism ever since he mistakenly named the winner of Miss Universe 2015 back in December. Now that humour is even making its way into road racing.

Harvey named the first runner-up, Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutiérrez, as the winner and crowned her before realizing the mistake and awarding the honour to Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.

The race sign read: “You are the winner of the [Louisiana] Marathon! Oh wait, apologize.”

Remarkably, the race sign was very relevant at the Louisiana Marathon since Mandy West, the initial winner of the race, was disqualified for receiving on-course assistance.

Some other popular signs seen at races include “no time for Walken” in reference to actor Christopher Walken, “pain is temporary but internet results are forever” and “worst parade ever.”

Bart Yasso also tweeted about a Steve Harvey sign at the 3M Half-Marathon but disappointingly did not provide a photo with the tweet:
