The Canadian men’s mountain running team recorded its best ever finish at the World championships, Sept. 6 in Italy.

The men’s team finished in 11th place out of 24 teams, while the women placed 13th out of 14 teams.

Joel Bourgeois, a former Olympian in the steeplechase, led Team Canada’s men , placing 51st in a time of 1:02:13, over a distance of 13.02K, on a course that gained 825m in elevation.

Sylvia Corbett led the Canadian women, placing 46th in a time of 51:19, over a rugged 8.68K course.

Canada has competed at the World mountain running championships since 2003.
