Coolsaet wins 25K event in Cambridge

Coolsaet was first across the line in a time of 1:28:30 at the eighth annual Run for the Toad. Another member of Canada’s national team, Taylor Milne, finished second in 1:33:46.

Coolsaet was competing in his first race since running the marathon at the Berlin World track and field championships in August. He was the top Canadian in that race, finishing 25th in 2:16:53.

The Run for the Toad also featured a 50K trail race, which was won by Taylor Murphy of Napanee, Ont.,  in a record time of 3:23:28. Murphy has also represented Canada at international competitions.

Ellie Greenwood of Vancouver won the women’s 50K in 3:54:03, while Julia Reichert of Kirkland, Ont. took the women’s 25K in 1:52:05.

Meanwhile, Coolsaet is expected to join some of Canada’s top distance runners for the National Championship 10K road race, Oct. 17 at the Toronto Zoo.
