Cross-Canada runner recovers for children’s hospital fundraiser

Achilles injury only a temporary setback for runner attempting to raise $1 million.

Curtis Hargrove seems to be back on track.

The Alberta runner is making his way across Canada in order to raise $1 million for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton, but suffered a set back last week when an Achilles problem began to impede his progress.

Hargrove, 23, began his trek in St John’s on May 4 with the goal of running 50K, more than a marathon, each day. He had been slowed by a swollen Achilles tendon and was forced to take time off last week and rest in between Port Hawkesbury and Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Hargrove has had to battle tough conditions and an increasingly agitated Achilles over the last month on the road. He will be arriving in Moncton on Wednesday after several successful days of running.

You can follow Curtis’ trek across Canada on his Facebook page, where he regularly posts videos, pictures and comments about his journey.
