Cam Levins broke a Canadian record over the weekend.

Cam Levins will chase a fast time in New York City this weekend among a strong field of elites at the Millrose Games. Levins broke the national indoor 5,000m record and is coming off other strong performances in New York which saw him win elite mile and two-mile races at the same venue, the Armoury.

The highlight event of the Millrose Games is the Wanamaker Mile, and event that regularly attracts many of the top runners in North America to compete for the title. Bernard Lagat is returning in 2015 to expand on his record number of Wanamaker wins. He’s won the event eight times, more than anyone else, but the 40-year-old will be among strong competition including other Olympic medallists and US national champions.

Calgary will be well represented in New York. Elites from the city competing in New York are Jenna Westaway, who will race the women’s 800m, and Jessica O’Connell, running the 3,000m. Akeem Haynes, also from the city, will race the men’s 60m. He currently holds the second fastest time in the world over that distance in 2015.

The women’s 60mH will see three Canadians compete, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, Phylicia George and Jessica Zelinka.

Full start lists can be found on the meet website.
