Mo Farah’s new book is set for release Thursday, Oct.10.

Mo Farah doesn’t look like he’d be the sort to get in a street fight. But the public will get to read about a different side of the double Olympic gold medal winning runner in coming days.

The British track and field superstar has an autobiography, titled Twin Ambitions, set to be released tomorrow ( Oct.10) and excerpts have appeared on the website of The Telegraph. One surprising insight into the training of the world’s elite distance athlete is a short blurb describing a fight Farah got into with a pedestrian.

The humorous excerpt posted describes a kerfuffle in Richmond Park, London, on Christmas Day. Farah explains a disagreement with another pedestrian in the park which ended in the two exchanging blows and rolling around in the dirt.

“Several minutes later the police showed up. A few minutes later Tania arrived.” Farah wrote, as excerpted in The Telegraph. “I was caked in mud from where I’d been rolling around on the grass. There were nicks and cuts all over my face and I sported a massive bruise on my head.”

The autobiography is expected to focus on Farah’s relationship with his twin brother, Hassan, from their childhood in Somalia up to his recent Olympic and World Championship titles.

Farah will be making his marathon debut this spring at the Virgin London Marathon in April and has also expressed and interest in racing the Commonwealth Games.

Look for a book review of Twin Ambitions in the January issue of Canadian Running.
