Next doping report expected to have a condemning ‘Wow factor’

The next doping report, set to be released in January by an investigative committee led by Dick Pound, is expected to have a "wow factor."

Dick Pound: “People will say how on earth could this happen.”

Dick Pound
Canadian Dick Pound, the former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency and strict advocate of drug testing in athletics, said the next doping report is set to have a “wow factor,” according to BBC News.

The second report, which so far has been withheld for the sake of a police investigation, is expected to target the governing body for international athletics (IAAF).

Former IAAF president Lamine Diack is currently being investigated by police in relation to bribery and corruption charges.

Pound is the chairman of the investigative committee responsible for the latest doping report, the first of which resulted in the banning of Russian athletes from international competition.

The next report is expected to be released in January to avoid the story getting buried if released before Christmas.

“People will say how on earth could this happen,” added Pound. “When we release this information, there will be a wow factor.”

“I think one of our small victories is making people aware that there is a lot more cheating going on in sport than most people ever thought,” Pound said, adding that not every athlete will be caught.
