OUA excitement at York U

OUA Championships promise great matchups, Feb 25-26 at York University.

Canadian University Track shifts into high gear on Friday, with conference championships across the country. The best action will be in Ontario, where Guelph and Windsor — the twin titans of distance domination — will continue their longstanding rivalry.

For both the men and the women, Windsor is ranked first in the Country and Guelph is ranked second. The battle will largely be decided in the distance events, where Guelph will rely on their traditional distance strength to make their bid for victory.

On the women’s side Guelph should be dominant, thanks largely to the leadership of Rachel Cliff, who appears to be above the rest of the CIS, and she’ll be the favourite in any event she enters.

On the men’s side, the fight should be closer, as Guelph’s trio of Boorsma, Genest, and Brett go up against Windsor’s Berkis, Walters, and Weston.

The OUA Championships will be held Feb 25-26 at York University, with the first events starting at 1:00 on Friday. Torontonians should be sure to come out and watch what will surely be some great track and field action. The full meet schedule is here.
