Peter Berg to direct Boston bombing film Patriots’ Day

Director Peter Berg is reportedly in final negotiations to direct one of three upcoming feature films about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Berg is looking to work again with actor Mark Walhlberg, who is one of the leading candidates to play Boston Police commissioner, Ed Davis, in the upcoming film, Patriots’ Day. The movie’s a script is based on Boston Police reports of the bombing and ensuing manhunt which consumed the city. The two also worked together on 2013 film Lone Survivor.

The movie is being produced by CBS Films.

Berg is also known for directing Friday Night Lights and Hancock and is also currently working on a movie about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Other movies about the 2013 bombing are in various stages of production are Lionsgate’s Stronger and 20th Century Fox’s Boston Strong.
