Protesters could take marathon viewing spots

If you're hoping to get a prime viewing spot of some of Canada and the world's top runners at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon: get there early.

If you’re hoping to get a prime viewing spot of some of Canada and the world’s top elite runners at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, here’s some advice: get there early.

According to a report in the National Post, hundreds of people are expected to meet at King and Bay streets in Toronto on Oct. 15. Gathering in the heart of the financial district, these protestors are preparing for a march on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Oct. 17, which means they will amass during the STWM on Oct. 16.

Bay and King also happens to be the finishing point for the STWM, where thousands of runners will cross the finish line, including elite runners like Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gilles. Coolsaet has already announced his intentions to try and break the Canadian marathon record at the race.

What the protest means, however, is that the intersection could be pretty busy on race day. For those spectators who want a great view of the finish line on race day, plan to get there early.
