After winning the New York City half-marathon, British world-record holder Paula Radcliffe has pulled herself out of the IAAF World Championship marathon in Berlin.

Radcliffe ran a time of one hour, nine minutes and 45 seconds for the win, Aug. 16 in New York.

It was her first race in 10 months, after undergoing surgery to repair a bunion, and recovering from a broken toe.

Radcliffe believes she is still about three weeks away from being fit enough to run a marathon.

She admits it was somewhat unorthodox to run a half-marathon just a week before a marathon, but needed to compete to see how her body would respond.

The World Championship marathon in Berlin is set for Aug. 23.
