Runner collapses near Edmonton Half-Marathon finish line
A man in his late-twenties or early-thirties was rushed to hospital, according to reports
An Edmonton Half-Marathon runner was taken to hospital shortly after collapsing near the race’s finish line on Sunday.
The Edmonton Journal reports that a man was approaching Jasper Avenue and 103 Street in the downtown core when he fell face first to the ground. The Journal‘s Dustin Cook was on scene and tweeted that a woman, later identified as a doctor, performed CPR and “regained consciousness of the man.”
The runner was placed on a stretcher before being transported to local hospital by ambulance, according to the report, which added that the runner “appeared to be in his late twenties or early thirties.” The location of the incident is less than 1K from the half-marathon finish line.

The Edmonton Half-Marathon, part of the Edmonton Marathon race weekend, began at 8 a.m. local time on Sunday morning.
