Comrades is a film that follows seven South African runners as they train for and compete in the annual 90K ultramarathon between Durban and Peitermaritzburg. The film, directed by the UK’s Poppy Simpson, will be making its Canadian Premiere at the Toronto festival.

Other festival highlights include another picture about long-distance running. Long Distance follows the career of an Ethiopian runner who has moved to the United States to train and make a living.
