Canadian record-holder and team veteran Kevin Sullivan will miss the World track and field championships, which begin Aug. 15 in Berlin.

Sullivan, who finished fifth in the 1500m at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, missed the Canadian trials in June with an Achilles injury. It has sidelined him for most of the season.

Sullivan expects to resume light running in September.

Athletics Canada is fielding a team of 31 athletes to compete in this year’s World Championships, Aug. 15-23.
