Surin, Poce to be inducted into Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame

Bruny Surin, an Olympic gold medallist and Canadian record holder, will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame, Athletics Canada has announced.

Bruny Surin, an Olympic gold medallist and Canadian record holder, will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame, Athletics Canada has announced.

Paul Poce, a long time coach and administrator in Toronto will also be inducted, in a ceremony on April 23rd, at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Surin won Gold in Atlanta in 1996, as a part of Canada’s 4x100m relay team. In 1999, he set tied Donovan Bailey’s Canadian record for the 100m, clocking 9.84 seconds at the World Championships.

Poce has been around the sport of track and field for more than half a century. He founded the Toronto Olympic Club in 1954, and over the years has coached the likes of John Craig and Jerome Drayton.
