Adidas trail shoes getting a boost

The Adidas trail shoe line is getting a boost. Next month the company will announce nine new trail shoe models, some using its signature Boost foam technology.

The company has dipped toes in the trail running market in the past but only with one or two models and most shoes have not been promoted as heavily as traditional road running shoes. Now many of their most popular road shoes will be available with more robust treads and Gore-Tex upper design.

“Adidas invented trail running more than 20 years ago,” said managing director Greg Thomsen of Adidas Outdoor in a press release. “This line combines best-in-class technology with the proven expertise that comes from so many years of specialized product design. Introducing the first trail runner with Boost gives consumers a technology on the trails not previously available as trail running becomes more and more popular with outdoor athletes.”

The shoes will be part of the company’s spring 2015 lineup.
