Simon Whitfield announced as Pan Am Games torchbearer
Four-time Olympian and Sydney Olympics gold medallist Simon Whitfield was named as the marquee torchbearer at this summer’s Pan Am Games in Toronto. The torch was unveiled Monday morning at a ceremony at the Ontario Science Centre. Whitfield carried the Olympic torch at the Vancouver Olympics. The Pan Am torch relay will extend through a number of provinces but will mostly run through Ontario.
CBC sports broadcaster and avid runner Scott Russell will also be on the team of torch bearers.
