Runners have a lot of quirks. We all have that one item, piece of gear or snack that we rely on before, after or during the run. Without it, running just wouldn’t be the same. What’s yours? If you have something quirky or odd that you just couldn’t be a runner without, write in: sinead@runningmag2.wpengine.com.

Runner: Myles McCormick

City: Halifax

Item I can’t live without:

After a long run I always eat a banana. It’s a simple routine but bananas are an excellent source of carbohydrates. Plus, I need to replace electrolytes that I lose from sweating during all that running. Potassium is a big one as is magnesium.

A bit about my running:

I have been running for nine years. That all started with running about a 5K distance and working my way up slowly. I have now completed eight marathons with the most recent one being the GoodLife Toronto Marathon. During training for the marathon, I’m running five to six times a week. That lasts for an 18-week period. Daily distances for me will range anywhere from 5K up to a max of 32K.
