This year’s Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon medal is one of the race’s best
The finisher's medal for October's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon was revealed to the public on July 28 at a local Toronto brewery.
Finishers of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in October will be going home with some sweet hardware. Canada Running Series, the organization that puts on the event, revealed the finisher’s medal on July 28. Race date is set for Oct. 16 and the weekend includes a 5K, half-marathon and marathon.
Nathan Phillips Square, an urban plaza in downtown Toronto, is featured on the front of the medal. A gold backing signifying the 27th edition of the race is on the reverse side of the marathon medal. Henderson Brewing Company hosted the unveiling on Thursday evening.

The illuminated Toronto sign was installed for last summer’s Pan Am Games. The sign, which is in front of city hall, is one of Toronto’s more popular landmarks.

All three races will have similar-style medals with the differences being the sizing and the background colour. The smallest of the three (bronze) is reserved for 5K finishers while the largest (gold) is intended for those who finish the marathon.
Alan Brookes, race director with Canada Running Series, and Dan Grant, Canadian Running‘s newest blogger and RunTOBeer founder, performed the countdown for the medal ceremony.
