Mohammed Ahmed takes down the Canadian indoor two-mile record at the NYRR Millrose Games in New York City on Saturday.
Mohammed Ahmed broke the Canadian indoor two-mile (3,218m) record on Saturday afternoon in New York City. The 26-year-old bettered the previous record, held by Cam Levins, finishing fourth overall in 8:13:16. The old record of 8:14.69, also set at the NYRR Millrose Games, dates back to 2013.

The New York Road Runners, the same organization that puts on the New York City Marathon, hosts the event at the Armory in Manhattan. The Millrose Games are considered one of the most prestigious indoor track and field competitions in the world.
It should be noted that Athletics Canada, the nation’s governing body for track and field, does not officially list the two-mile on their records and rankings page.
