Out-of-town race director, off little sleep, PBs by 7 minutes at Vancouver Half
Ryan Chilibeck was in Edmonton on Saturday morning directing the new MEC Trail Race series. On Sunday, in Vancouver, he set a seven-minute PB.
Edmonton’s Ryan Chilibeck, the founder of the East Van Run Crew, chats after setting a seven-minute PB at the BMO Vancouver Half. On Saturday, in Edmonton, his current residence, he directed a MEC Trail Race and barely hit “double digits” in terms of hours of sleep over the past three days.
“I don’t know where that came from,” he says describing his race performance. Because of the early 7 a.m. start, he was up at 4 a.m. to prep for the race getting minimal shut-eye.
Rocking an exotic singlet, shorts and hat, Chilibeck, who relocated to Edmonton from Vancouver recently, covered the 21.1K course in 1:34:11. Canadian Running caught up with the outreach coordinator at MEC moments after crossing the finish line.
