Sheila Reid of Newmarket Ont., has had a successful track and field career since high school. Like many athletes, Reid has battled very serious injuries throughout her university career and had to red-shirt the entire 2008 cross-country and outdoor track season. In addition to her specialties, which include the 1500m, the 5000m and cross-country, Reid also holds personal bests of 2:06.86 in the 800m and 8:56.92 in the 3000m.

Success at the NCAA level seemed to come naturally to Reid as she won the individual cross-country championships in 2010 and 2011. She made history in 2011 by winning both the 1500m and the 5000m at the NCAA outdoor championships. With a distance medley relay NCAA championship under her belt, Reid can boast five national championships throughout her very successful career at Villanova.

Reid won the 1500m at the 2011 Canadian championships and the 5000m at the 2012 Olympic Trials.

Reid is called a strategic racer and her Villanova profile notes that she is “capable of kicking past any opponent.” Reid was an English major at Villanova. She is one of five children with three sisters and one brother. Her parents Tom and Ginny Reid are active in the Newmarket community.
