If you’re shedding layers to beat the heat running this summer, it seems you’re also more likely to keep them off afterwards.

A Match.com survey of 1,184 Canadian singles, conducted last fall, has found runners are among the more flirtatious and forward of potential matches.

Firstly, if you’re looking for a runner you’re in luck. The survey found one-third of singles are also regular runners and they’re twice as likely to ask someone out on a date than the general population. This could be a result of them being more optimistic than others.

But don’t skimp on your outfit for the first date. Fifty per cent of runners consider style of to be a very important quality in partners, compared to only 28 per cent of all survey responders.

Also don’t expect to tip toe into things. Runners like things to move fast. Forty-six per cent are fine with sex on the first date and 56 per cent have had one night stands, both numbers being higher than in non-runners, and they keep the lights on doing it. Forty-eight per cent of runners leave the lights on during sex, a notably higher number than in the average population. They are also less likely to be monogamous and tend to date more people at once than the general population. Runners are also less likely to live with a partner before marriage.

So, with the summer sun finally here, there’s never been a better time to heat things up in your love life.
