In the market for a new running watch? Coros has dropped the prices on some popular models

In addition to a firmware update and new mobile app announced last week, the GPS maker Coros announced it was lowering the price on its Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro models to reflect fluctuations in the value of the U.S. dollar.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro, originally retailing for CAD$699, is now $599, and the base Apex 2 is $499. The Kilian Jornet edition is now $649 (originally $749).

The update also involves new API integrations with Google Health Connect, Intervals, and HRV4Training, as well as updates to its EvoLab training platform, which is free to all Coros users.

Also with this latest update, the brand’s Pace 2 model also now offers breadcrumb navigation, which was lacking in the original release.

With the update, the new Coros app now features four pages titled Progress, Activities, Explore and Profile. The Explore page includes a route builder that lets you draw, edit, erase and download custom running routes. Users can save locations, either in the app or directly on the watch, and the map manager lets you download or delete maps on your watch from the app. (This applies to the brand’s more expensive Vertix 2 watch also.)

The Coros Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro are both durable and user-friendly tools for endurance runners in a touchscreen-plus-three-buttons format. Launched in November 2022, the Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro are very similar; the main differences are that the base Apex 2 lacks multi-band GPS, and the Pro has almost double the Apex 2’s battery life (up to 75 hours or three continuous days in GPS mode or up to 30 days in smartwatch mode) and a larger screen. Both now have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a new optical heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensing and more storage (32 gigabytes for the Pro).

Both models offer all of the usual training, recovery and sleep tracking features common to most running watches, and you can use them to track your cross training in up to 28 different sports.
