New shoe lights give better visibility for runners

A new product is coming on the market that will help light up the trails and and get runners seen on dark roads.

Night Runner can be thought of as an alternative to your headlamp. Instead of having a light fixed to a headband, runners can don LED lights on the toes and heels of their sneakers. Surprisingly, this is the first time this sort of product has come on the market.

There are two sets of lightweight lights for each shoe– one for the front and red ones for the back. Wearing these lights on your pair of shoes will cast a light up to 30 metres ahead with 270 degree visibility. One set also comes with a rechargeable battery and shoelace clips. Check out the video below to see how it works.

It started as a Kickstarter campaign and is still relatively new. While runners can’t get the lights in stores yet, they will be available soon online for order. So keep an eye out!
