Cam Levins rocks new footwear, flats you’ve probably never seen before
Cam Levins is wearing a new (for him) brand on his feet, sporting Altra racing flats at the 2017 Canadian 5K Road Race Championships
Cam Levins, the 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist with a 27:07 10,000m to his name, is currently unsponsored.
The 28-year-old from Black Creek, B.C. formerly ran for Nike and the Oregon Project but departed the high-profile training group in June. Levins, the former national record holder over 10,000m, has been spotted recently sporting shoes not often seen by big names in the athletics world.
After the Canadian 5K Road Race Championships, Canadian Running caught up with Levins, the 2017 national champion, to chat about his recent races. He said he’s been running with a racing prototype shoe from Altra, which appear to be the Vanish-R. The Canadian raced with the new shoe at both the Falmouth Road Race in Massachusetts and again at the Sept. 10 B&O Yorkville Run in Toronto, his first race in Canada in more than a year.
Levins says that a friend from Southern Utah University works with Altra and that’s his connection, though he says he remains without an apparel or shoe deal.
