Upgrade your performance with the new Coros Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro watches

The latest GPS watches from Coros feature a massive improvement in battery life

On Nov. 3, Coros launched two new watches in the Apex series, refreshing its middle-of-the-road sports-watches range. The Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro are continuations of the original Apex, which boasted a long battery life for multisport athletes. Although the Apex 2 has kept most of the core Apex components, the new version packs a few new features, including increased battery life, mapping and music storage.

The Pro has all of the top features from Coros, plus a longer battery life–it lasts almost twice as long as the Apex 2 in smartwatch mode, and 30 additional hours of GPS battery life than the standard 45 hours in the Apex 2.

In the standard smartwatch mode, Coros states that you’ll get 17 days from the Apex 2 and 30 days from the Apex 2 Pro.

Another new feature on both Apex models is the full sapphire glass touchscreen and titanium alloy bezel. The two models are similar in weight, with the Apex 2 coming in at 42 grams and the Pro weighing 53 grams. The additional weight on the Pro comes from its larger battery and screen size.

The difference in screen size is noticeable side by side, but the data on the Apex 2 Pro will be easier to read while running. This improvement is offset by the lighter weight of the Apex 2.

Another disparity between the two is internal storage. On the Apex 2, you get 8GB of storage, while the Apex 2 Pro offers 32GB.

Though the Apex 2 features maps and music storage, users can only load music files onto the watch manually; there is currently no support for music streaming services, but this problem is currently being worked on—and could be launched next year in a firmware update.

The Apex 2 is available in black, grey or coral, and is available for $579. The Apex 2 Pro comes in black, grey and green and is priced at $699. Both watches are available today and could be the perfect gift for that runner in your family this holiday season.
