Gut-wrenching finish to the 2017 Dallas Marathon
The dramatic final 50m of the 2017 Dallas Marathon was captured on video
Chandler Self was the first woman to cross the finish line at the 2017 Dallas Marathon, clocking 2:53:55.
As captured on video (see below), Self staggered, and at some points fell, throughout the final 50m of the Texas road race. High school runner Ariana Luterman, who was running in the event’s relay, aided Self over the final stages of the race and ultimately across the line.
Medical personnel quickly attended to Self moments after breaking the winner’s tape. According to the live tracking page, Self slowed considerably over the final 2.4K, dropping to 5:01 per K pace from 4:12 per K speed.
