Tely 10-Miler holding contest for 2018 race medal design

The finisher medal for 2018 will be chosen based on an open contest

Tely 10-Miler

Newfoundland and Labrador’s most famous road race is holding a contest to determine its 2018 race medal design.

The Tely 10 Mile Road Race – the Tely 10 for short – asks the public to submit their best design(s) to be used for the medal to be handed out at the end of the 16K race in July. Two entries can be made per person and the winning entry will be recognized on March 31.

No purchase is necessary and Telegram “subscribers, non-subscribers, single copy buyers and online readers are eligible to win,” according to contest rules.

The Tely 10-Miler, according to race historian Joe Ryan, is the third oldest road race in Canada. The name comes from the local newspaper, the Telegram.

The 91st annual Tely 10-Miler is scheduled for July 22. The race begins in Paradise, N.L. and ends in St. John’s.

The prize for the winning design includes gift cards, complimentary entry in the 2018 Tely 10 and the opportunity for the winner to award the medals to the overall winners. Design entry closes in mid-March.
