Beaches Jazz Run gets a perfectly cool Toronto morning
Cooler temperatures made for a perfect morning and excellent times at Toronto's Beaches Jazz Run 5K, 10K and half-marathon
It was a couple of degrees under 20 C for this morning’s Beaches Jazz Run 5K, 10K and half-marathon in east-end Toronto, a nice change from the recent heatwave southern Ontario has been experiencing. This race also enjoys the pleasantly cooling effect of running along the shore of Lake Ontario.
All three races follow the Martin Goodman Trail from the foot of Lee Avenue westward along the lake to Lakeshore Boulevard. The half-marathon route goes out the length of the Leslie Spit (aka Tommy Thompson Park), to the lighthouse and back.
Held every year to coincide with the Beaches Jazz Festival, the race was organized for the third year by Beaches Runners Club, and was sold out two weeks ago, even with the increased registration limit of 1,225 runners.
