Smith and Gill win masters 8K at ACXC nationals 2018
Skies were clear for the early-morning races at Fort Henry
Andrea Smith, 35, of MB Performance was the first female across the finish line in the master’s 8K race at the Athletics Canada Cross-Country national championships yesterday. Sarah Nagy, 45, of Newmarket was second, and Lauren King, 36, of MB Performance was third.

Michael Gill, 41, of Lion’s Valley Athletics in Oakville, Ont. won handily in the men’s race. Leo Papail, 39, of Newmarket and Brian Torrance, 42, of Edmonton took second and third in a hard-fought battle at the finish.

Skies were sunny and clear for the early-morning races at Fort Henry, though predictably, the course became very muddy as the temperature rose and rain started to fall during the later races.
