Brianne Theisen and Ashton Eaton welcome baby boy

The Canadian heptathlon record holder and her husband welcomed their new baby, Ander, on January 21

Brianne Theisen-Eaton and husband Ashton Eaton welcomed their son, Ander, to the family on January 21. Theisen-Eaton, who is from Saskatchewan, won the bronze medal in the heptathlon at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, and silver at both the 2013 and 2015 World Championships. Eaton is the two-time Olympic gold medallist and former world record-holder in the decathlon.

Eaton wrote on Twitter on Sunday: “Thank you all for the birthday wishes on the 21st. It was super special; Brianne gave birth to our son that day. His name is Ander. Being a dad is the most exciting and awesome thing I’ve ever done.”

Two of the most decorated athletes in track and field history, both now retired, live in San Francisco, where Theisen-Eaton works as a nutritionist and Eaton is pursuing mechanical engineering.

A fun fact: Ander and Ashton share a birthday.
