London track hosts royal family runoff between Prince Harry, William and Kate Middleton
Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hit the track to test out their speed in this fun 50m race ahead of the 2017 London Marathon.
The royal family has been putting their speed to the test.
Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a Royal Family runoff on Feb. 5 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
The trio raced a 50m sprint in front of a London Marathon training crowd in support of Heads Together, an organization that promotes discussion in support of mental health.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry today joined a training day with runners taking part in the London Marathon for Heads Together,” reads Kensington Palace’s Instagram caption. “The training day was held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and around 150 runners attended, including current marathon world champion Paula Radcliffe and 400 metre sprinter Iwan Thomas. Their Royal Highnesses also took part in the relay at the community track before meeting participants.”
The event was held at the newly-built London Marathon Community Track, which will serve as a warmup area for the 2017 IAAF World Championships this August.

As the Instagram caption notes, the women’s marathon world record holder was on site for the training day. Radcliffe, 43, has run 2:15:25 for the marathon and is one of the more popular figures on the global running scene.

Harry was first followed by William and Kate. Rocking Asics and New Balance footwear, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared to have the more runner-friendly shoes compared to Harry. The best-dressed, however, may have to go to Prince Harry as he can be seen sporting Canada’s own Arc’teryx, an outdoor clothing and technical outerwear based in Vancouver.
The Royal Family is expected to be heavily involved in promoting physical activity and sport ahead of the April 23 London Marathon, one of six races in the World Marathon Majors series. Heads Together is the ‘Charity of the Year’ for the 2017 London Marathon, which will feature Canadian Krista DuChene.
