Runner’s bike-riding coach causes crash on Arizona track

Middle-distance runner's coach runs into walker on an Arizona track on Tuesday

A French middle-distance runner’s coach caused a crash on a track in Flagstaff, Arizona on Tuesday. Yoann Kowal was training in Flagstaff with his coach and a partner when the coach rode into someone occupying a lane on the track.

The runner’s coach was pacing Kowal and his running partner on a bike when they came upon a group who had slowed up and were walking along the track’s inside lanes. Though the coach shouted at the last minute to warn the oblivious walker, neither he nor the runners slowed down.

Both the coach on the bike and the walker hit the ground in the crash. The two runners stumbled, but stayed on their feet.

The person shooting the video can be heard to say, in a flat, expressionless voice, “Oh no.”
