A look around New Balance headquarters

Last week New Balance, based out of Boston, Mass., moved into their new, 250,000 square-foot headquarters in the city. Over the past week the company’s employees in the city have been moving into the new building.

“The opening of the New Balance global headquarters reflects the evolution of the brand and our continued service within the community,” said company chairman Jim Davis in a press release. “Our commitment to the City of Boston is evident by the company’s long-standing and unwavering support in the Allston/Brighton area as our global headquarters location for more than 35 years.”

The new headquarters has been under construction since September 2013.

The new building sits just off the Massachusetts Turnpike, easy to see for those driving in and out of the city. It is part of the early development of an upcoming 60,000 square-metre complex which will include a sports complex and ice hockey rink, commuter rail station, hotel and indoor track and field centre. Much of the project is being paid for by the Davis family.

The shoe and apparel company isn’t the only one in the Boston area. Reebok is also based in Canton, Mass., not far from downtown Boston.
